Muay Thai Retreat - Warrior Collective Training Camp Koh Samui

I am blown away to share with you the dates for the first ever Warrior Collective Training Camp in Thailand.  From Saturday 28th June through to Friday 11th July I will personally be hosting a Muay Thai retreat (although this includes options to train in MMA and Jiu Jitsu as well for those who like to cross train) at the phenomenal Lionheart Muay Thai gym in Koh Samui.

I am fortunate to have been out and stayed at this amazing gym multiple times now over the past few years.  The location, facility, accommodation and coaching is all truly fantastic, and as a result, it has become my home away home for me, my family and my friends whenever we head that side of the world.

Dates of Camp - First Day - Saturday 28th June / Last Day - Friday 11th July

“Who is the Camp aimed at?"

One of the many great things about training at Lionheart Muay Thai is that it is a truly brilliant place to train for all levels of ability, age and experience.  I have taken multiple teenagers over there for training vacations (including my own 15 year old daughter) as well as a variety of different ability/experience levels (first timers through to those wanting to fight in Thailand).  For example, my great friend, globally renowned striking coach and multiple times Muay Thai world champion Damien Trainor (and his family) joined me at Lionheart for two weeks in 2023.

On top of this, Lionheart Muay Thai is one of the few places in Koh Samui that you can train in both BJJ and MMA, alongside their full schedule of Muay Thai, Yoga and Fitness related classes.  I have personally trained both Gi and No-Gi Jiu Jitsu each time I have visited (The MMA is a new addition for 2025).

Although this Muay Thai retreat obviously has combat sports at its core, this does not make it an unworthwhile trip for anyone who does not train in Martial Arts i.e. those who want to bring family, accompanying partners, parents, siblings or children.  For those wishing to do some physical activity outside of martial arts, there is a full schedule of fitness, health and wellbeing based classes.

For those that just want to relax, Lionheart has its own private pool.  Both this and the beach are located only a very short stroll from the gym itself (and for those wanting to be even closer, some accommodation options are literally only metres from the pool and the beach).

"Why visit Koh Samui?"

Outside of training you can expect to spend your time in a true tropical paradise.

Beaches: Koh Samui is known for its beautiful beaches, including Chaweng Beach, Lamai Beach, Maenam Beach, and Choeng Mon Beach.  Lionheart itself is located next to Ban Tai Beach on the north of the island.

Buddhist temples and sculptures: Koh Samui has many religious attractions, including the 49-foot-tall Big Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Yai) and the Secret Buddha Garden.

Jungle and waterfalls: The island is home to several beautiful jungle areas and waterfalls.

Samui Elephant Sanctuary: The sanctuary was opened in 2018 by local conservationist Maew Suriya and has rescued elephants from the tourist-trekking and riding industry.

Diving and snorkeling: The waters around Koh Samui are home to a variety of marine life, making it a great place for diving and snorkeling.

Nightlife: Koh Samui has a vibrant nightlife, with a variety of clubs, bars, and restaurants.  Fisherman’s village in particular is a local area known for its night markets, food and drink.

"What will the training and schedule look like on this camp?"

Train at your pace and level in Muay Thai alongside the exceptionally talented team of Thai instructors based at Lionheart.  Experience true Muay Thai within an unbelievably beautiful setting.

If you enjoy mixing things up, take part in Lionheart's full schedule of BJJ (Gi and No Gi) and MMA training sessions with their resident black belt head coach Mario Sukata and the rest of his team.

Although runs are not mandatory, regular village runs will be scheduled each day.  A one-off Big Buddha run will also be on the timetable during the camp.

Recharge your batteries by taking part in one of the scheduled ice bath sessions throughout the camp.

Meet together as a group for breakfast and lunch each day at Fitkoh (Lionheart’s purpose built restaurant on the beach).  These meals are included at no extra cost in the camp.

Enjoy a private Beach BBQ with the rest of the group on one weekend during the camp.  Food included in the camp.

Visit Phetchbunchu Stadium to watch Muay Thai fights on one of their events during the camp.  Entry tickets and transport included in the camp.

Visit a local waterfall and enjoy a short trek through the jungle on one day during the camp.

Beach life and Sunsets.  Hang together with the new friends you make on the trip or with any family, friends or children you bring on the beach after training.

Pool time.  Spend time outside of training relaxing by Lionheart’s private pool and soak in some of the amazing weather enjoyed by this island all year round.

Additional activities such as excursions, private lessons, massages etc are all charged separately.  If you are interested in finding out more information or booking any of these, let us know and we can help arrange these for you.

"Pricing - How much does the camp cost?"

The 2 week training retreat costs £700 per person.

Additional Accommodation Options for 14 nights (all prices include mandatory taxes and service charges)

Beachside Bungalows - Standard size - £1200 / Large size - £1360

Sundeck Bungalows - £1200

Garden Bungalow 1 Bed - £840

Garden Bungalow 2 Bed - £1360

Neena Bungalows - £840

2 Bed Private Pool Villa - £2320

3 Bed Private Pool Villa - £3000

So, for example, a solo traveller staying in a standard sized one bed beachside bungalow would pay £1900 for the two week camp and accommodation.  Two sharing the same bungalow would be £2600 for the camp and accommodation.

"Can I attend the camp if I am staying in accommodation elsewhere?"

Yes, we are happy to take people in for the training camp even if they have booked to stay in alternate accommodation for the duration of the retreat.  You would then only pay the £700 cost for the two weeks camp (we can also amend this to a lower cost if food is not required as a result of staying elsewhere).

"Can I attend the camp and only train in Muay Thai, BJJ or MMA?  Can I switch to only training in the fitness classes?"

Yes, you don’t need to train in each art form if you don’t want to.  We are including the BJJ and MMA free of charge so it is entirely down to you which you prefer to train in.

If you or a family member would like to take part in the camp but switch out the Martial Arts sessions for Fitness classes (such as TRX, MetCon, Yoga etc), then simply make the request when booking and we will do the rest (the cost would remain the same but full access amended over to the Fitkoh Fitness training program/schedule).

"What is the cost for anyone attending the camp but not training?"

For any partners, friends, family members or children attending who are not going to be taking part in any of the training (but still want access to the other aspects of the retreat i.e. food, transfers, stadium visits etc), the cost will be £275 for the two week camp.

"How many spaces are there on the retreat?  How many villas/bungalows are available onsite?"

We are looking to take around 25-30 as our maximum group size.

Currently available accommodation;

8 x one bed beachside bungalows (4 standard, 4 large)

3 x one bed sundeck bungalows

1 x one bed garden bungalow

1 x two bed garden bungalow

6 x one bed neena bungalows

1 x two bed private pool bungalow

1 x three bed private pool bungalow

"I am new to Muay Thai/Martial Arts, can I still join?  I do not feel in shape at all, do you have to be a certain fitness level to take part?"

Yes, of course.  As mentioned above, Lionheart Muay Thai is the perfect place for those new to training in Muay Thai, BJJ or MMA.  All of the resident coaches are hugely experienced at working with everyone from first time novices through to experienced athletes.  Camp attendees are not required to take part in every session.  Sessions can be taken at whatever pace or level needed to engage and enjoy the training.

My partner/friend does not train in Martial Arts but wants to come. Would he/she be able to still participate in retreat?

Of course, this quite a common occurrence.  We can either swap over the Martial Arts training to fitness, health and wellbeing based sessions or amend it to having no training attached for a lower cost.

"I am thinking of bringing my whole family.  Are children allowed to train in the camp?"

Koh Samui is an amazingly beautiful place to visit for a family holiday.  The retreat itself offers the pool and the beach in close proximity for children who are on the trip.  Children are allowed and encouraged to take part in training if they have an interest in any of the Martial Arts styles on offer in the camp.  Ideal for those who have prior experience before coming to the island.  Children are not allowed into the fitness, health or wellbeing based sessions.

"Is my travel to and from the retreat included?"

No, your travel costs to and from Koh Samui are not included.  We will arrange free pick up and drop off from the airport if you are staying onsite in one of Lionheart’s bungalows or villas.

"How much is a deposit?  Is there a payment plan?  When is the full payment due?"

The deposit for the camp is £250 per person.  This non-refundable deposit is required to secure your place in the camp.  The final payment is required before 1st May 2025.  Please enquire if you wish to discuss a potential payment plan option for you.

"What is the refund/cancellation policy?  What do I do if get sick/inured?"

If cancelled outside of 60 days from the retreat start date, we offer a full refund minus the deposit per person.

If you cancel within 60 days there is no refund.

*Your deposit is non-refundable

Adequate travel insurance is crucial to ensuring you have a safe and enjoyable trip.  It is up to you to make sure you are covered for any activities involved and find the proper insurance for your stay.

There are numerous doctors and pharmacies located in Koh Samui, alongside larger hospitals, so if you do come down ill or need to seek medical attention whilst on the retreat, we will ensure you get all the help you need to access it.

“How can I find out more and/or book a space?"
