In a storied international career Pete amassed a CV of countless grappling matches in BJJ, Judo and submission wrestling, as well as over 50 bouts in MMA, Muay Thai and K-1 rules kickboxing.
2nd degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Pete was trained in Brazil by Crezio de Souza, one of the Carlson Gracie team members of the golden era of the 80’s and 90’s. Crezio typified the strong pressure style of Carlson Gracie, fought open weight Vale Tudo, and wrestled for the Brazilian national team.
He passed on to Pete a style of Jiu-Jitsu that flawlessly combines wrestling and BJJ, geared specifically for MMA fighting that has become his calling card. Trained in Muay Thai by Ajarn Barry Norman at Newcastle’s legendary Sor Thanikul, and later, by both Kieran Keddle and Steve Gladstone at the powerhouse Semtex gym, he captured numerous British and European titles.
Pete’s MMA trainer Alan Orr helped him bring together these disparate arts into a consistent package, bridging the gaps and filling in the blanks to create a complete and systematic approach to MMA training. After retiring from competition Pete founded his own gym, Newcastle fight centre, and oversees a network of Team Crezio Jiu-Jitsu academies around the U.K.
Bringing together this diverse mixture of styles, knowledge and competitive experience, Pete is a much sought-after coach for athletes transitioning from the grappling or striking arts into the MMA arena; having worked with and cornered MMA and Kickboxing fighters in world level promotions such as UFC, Bellator, KSW, Cagewarriors, Jungle fight, Glory, Enfusion, It’s Showtime and many more. He regularly gives seminars around the U.K., Europe, Brazil and New Zealand.
