The use of Taekwondo (through its kicks, tactics and training methods) in other combat sports (such as MMA, Kickboxing, Karate and Muay Thai) has grown exponentially over the past decade. The Korean art is well regarded as one of the elite martial arts disciplines when it comes to developing its practitioners kicks. Nowhere is this more apparent than with multiple times Olympic/World Champion, highly touted GOAT TKD athlete and globally sought after coach Steven Lopez. Known for his often superhuman kicking, Steven was a dominant force within the world of Taekwondo for more than a decade prior to his retirement from active competition.
Steven Lopez is well regarded as one of the P4P best Taekwondo athletes of his generation. The Nicaraguan born American fighter is a two times Olympic Gold medallist and five-time Taekwondo World Champion.
Born in Nicaragua, Steven moved with his parents to New York City in 1982. He first started training Taekwondo at the age of 5 years old in his home garage with his father and older brother.
The 4th Dan black belt has had a distinguished competitive career, including participation in three Olympic Games (2000 and 2004 Gold medallist, and 2008 Bronze medallist), and five World Championships (Winner in 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2009).
