Muay Thai Judging, Scoring and Official's Course with Tony Myers

I am hugely excited to announce this new Warrior Collective Course date.  For anyone who knows the UK Muay Thai community, the name Tony Myers  will no doubt not be a new one to you!  I am over the moon to have this phenomenal individual with me to host this Judging and Officials course.

The course follows the Thai Board of Boxing Sport rules, which is the basis for organisations such as IBMTO and Muay Thai GB in the UK. It is underpinned by over 20 years of academic research that Tony has conducted . This includes interviews with top stadium officials and my PhD research. 

This course is not only vital for those wishing to become a judge or official, it is also highly recommended to coaches who want to further develop their knowledge when it comes to scoring and effect.  Fighters and coaches who have a true understanding of scoring and how judging criteria is assessed are always better placed for consistent success at any level of Muay Thai competition.

About Tony

Tony Myers is one of the UK’s most experienced and respected Muay Thai referees.  Throughout his many years officiating, he has worked as a judge, referee and commentator on both amateur and professional events, nationally and internationally.

Tony is also an internationally renowned professor of quantitative research based at Birmingham university. He advises researchers, PhD and MRes students on statistical analysis. He chairs the Journal of Sports Science Statistics and Research Design Advisory Group and founded the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) Sport, Exercise and Health Analytics Special Interest Group.

He has presented webinars on Bayesian data analysis to audiences across the globe through Human Kinetics, BASES, and the Biomechanics Lecture Series. He is involved in several national and international collaborations and funded projects. These include collaborations with researchers in the USA, Dubai, Tunisia, Germany, Portugal, and Australia.

Professor Myers has built a reputation as a world authority on the influences on judging Muay Thai. He was a principal investigator for research projects researching the sport over a fifteen-year period. He has accepted several invitations to disseminate his research findings through presentations and seminars across the UK, Ireland, Denmark, Canada, and the USA. 

Coaching

Alongside his vast experience as a Muay Thai judge, referee and official, Tony is also the hugely respected coach to elite level fighters such as world champion Dean James.
