Traditionally, Judoka have always trained and competed in the Gi. However, the emergence of MMA and the growing popularity of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu over the past two decades have led to an increased demand in No Gi coaching, techniques and applications.
Adding Judo techniques, drills and training methods to an existing grappling based athlete or fighter has proven to be an unparalleled way to give them an edge at any level of competition.
However, understanding how to transition from the grips relied upon in the Gi, is key to ensuring a coach or athlete’s success when looking to add this dynamic to their combat sport skill set.
