Whilst Chinzo Machida is widely credited as being one of the main driving forces (as a coach) behind brother Lyoto’s huge success within the UFC, he is also a technically brilliant fighter within his own right too.  Orthodox by nature (with Lyoto being a natural Southpaw), his striking style has seen him take numerous great wins in both MMA and Karate over the years.

Chinzo Machida

Chinzo is the second son of world renowned Karate instructor Master Machida.  He holds a 6th Dan in Shotokan Karate and a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.  With over 40 years of experience in Martial Arts, he has won 13 Brazilian adult Kumite Championship titles, competed successfully on multiple global MMA/Karate promotions (including Bellator MMA and Karate Combat) and helped his brother Lyoto Machida to become UFC Light Heavyweight champion.

Aside from still being active as a fighter, he is the head instructor of the Machida Karate Academy in Los Angeles (which he and Lyoto opened in 2016).
