Starting at the age of 6 he loved the dynamic and explosive nature of taekwondo and was instantly hooked. He was a successful junior winning 4 british titles and a European silver medal before being selected to join the Great Britain academy in 2006. During almost 10 years with the academy he achieved success at European and World level, he also represented GB at the 2012 Olympic games narrowly missing out a medal placing 5th.
Martin retired as an athlete aged 29 and transitioned straight into a coaching role at GB taekwondo. Five years on Martin is world renowned coach having acheived many major medals with his athletes including coaching Bradly Sinden to gold in Manchester in 2019 to become Great Britains first ever male World Champion.
