Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Scott began boxing at age 11 and quickly established himself as a top amateur, winning major titles including the Junior Olympics Championships and the Under‑19 Junior World Championships in 1997, as well as the National AAU Heavyweight Championship in 1999 by defeating elite opponents.
He turned professional in 2000, compiling a stellar career record of 38 wins, 3 losses and 1 draw over more than a decade and a half in the heavyweight division. Along the way he notched victories over notable competitors like Terry McGroom, Tony Thompson and Alex Leapai, and stepped up to face world‑class contenders including Deontay Wilder, Derek Chisora and Luis Ortiz.
From Elite Fighter to World‑Class Trainer
After retiring from competitive boxing in 2016/2017, Scott smoothly transitioned into high‑performance coaching — quickly becoming one of the most sought‑after boxing trainers in the world.
His technical knowledge, fight IQ and ability to communicate complex concepts clearly have attracted elite fighters across boxing and combat sports.
In 2021, Scott was appointed head coach for former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, joining Wilder’s corner for major bouts including the trilogy against Tyson Fury — further cementing his reputation as a coach capable of guiding fighters at the sport’s highest levels.
He has also worked with rising champions and contenders such as Unified Cruiserweight World Champion Zurdo Ramirez and light heavyweight prospect Ezra Taylor, bringing his strategic and analytical approach to elite camps.
Scott’s coaching style blends technical fundamentals, physical control systems, footwork mastery and strategic striking progression, making his instruction valuable for fighters, coaches and combat athletes seeking real‑world improvement.
