Japanese Kickboxing - Learning the Art of Fighting with Tai Terada
Modern Japanese Kickboxing has become one of the most exciting and influential striking systems in combat sports. Combining explosive combinations, devastating calf kicks, Kyokushin-inspired pressure and intelligent fight tactics, it has helped shape the evolution of K-1 competition and continues to influence elite Kickboxing, Muay Thai and MMA.
In this exclusive Warrior Collective instructional, European K-1 Champion and Maji Art of Fight founder Tai Terada presents a complete introduction to the principles, techniques and tactical concepts that define the modern Japanese Kickboxing system.
Popularised by elite fighters such as Takeru Segawa, Yuki Yoza and many of Japan's leading K-1 competitors, this unique style blends Kyokushin Karate, modern boxing, dynamic kicking systems and relentless pressure into one of the most effective striking approaches in the world today.
As the first volume in Tai's exclusive Warrior Collective series, this instructional lays the technical foundation for understanding how modern Japanese Kickboxing works before progressing into the advanced coaching and pad work systems covered in Volume 2 – Japanese Kickboxing: Pad Work for Modern Fighters.
Learn from One of Japan's Leading Striking Coaches
Tai Terada grew up in Kobayashi, Japan, where he and his younger brother Takumi Terada were introduced to the demanding world of Kyokushin Karate from an early age under the guidance of their father.
After beginning his competitive career in Japan, Tai moved to the Netherlands to immerse himself in Dutch Kickboxing, training alongside some of Europe's leading fighters before becoming an undefeated European K-1 Champion.
Following his competitive career, Tai dedicated himself to coaching and founded Maji Art of Fight in Eindhoven, where he continues to develop fighters using the same Japanese striking philosophy that has made the country's modern Kickboxing system so successful.
Through his close relationships with world-class athletes including his brother K-1 World Champion Takumi Terada, ONE Championship star Yuki Yoza and Team Vasileus head coach Masakazu Watanabe, Tai remains deeply connected to the continued evolution of Japanese Kickboxing at the highest level.

Japanese Kickboxing is a modern striking system that combines the powerful kicking mechanics of Kyokushin Karate with high-level boxing, aggressive pressure and tactical movement developed through K-1 competition. The style is known for its devastating calf kicks, unorthodox kicking attacks, explosive combinations and intelligent use of timing to create openings against opponents.
Is this suitable for beginners?
The instructional assumes viewers already have a basic understanding of striking fundamentals. Is this instructional useful for MMA fighters?
